I am taking part in the c225 mile journey "The Walk", setting out on 5 June 2025 from RFC Llangwm, Pembrokeshire, Wales, finishing in Chamberlain Square, Birmingham on Father's Day - 15 June 2025.

Like all of the core team, I am walking in memory of Wally Hames, but also in memory of my Dad - George Maynard, and my Mom - Blondell Maynard.

My Mom was a medical professional for over 40 years, working as a Registered Nurse, Sister, Midwife, Health Visitor and lecturer. Mom had many ailments but you would never guess that anything was wrong. She suffered with Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) on top of Hypertension and Diabetes. She also had a brief scare with minor breast cancer which she overcame but, tragically, the impact of CAD eventually took her from us on 14 January 2021.

Dad was continually youthful for his age. The permanent teenager some would say. He was rarely impacted by anything until later in life when dementia began to overtake his everyday life meaning he had to go into a care home for his final days. He sadly passed due to myocardial infarction on 26 June 2012.

I’m walking in their name to raise money for the British Heart Foundation and Help Harry Help Others.
