Story
It was a typical weekend morning in January this year when I suddenly felt unwell. I attempted to shout for help but discovered I couldn't get the words out of my mouth. After further tests in hospital, it was identified that I had suffered an Ischemic stroke - a blockage in part of the brain's blood supply that permanently damages cells. Fortunately, my speech issue has resolved and further tests revealed the cause which was a small hole between my heart chambers. This has now been repaired during an operation at Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital.
In the UK, around 100,000 people have a stroke each year. Life changes instantly for each person and for many the stroke can have devastating long-term impacts. The Stroke Association supported me in rebuilding after my discharge from hospital and provides specialist support, funds critical research and campaigns to make sure many more people affected by stroke get the best care and support to rebuild their lives too.
Myself and team of family & friends are taking on the challenge of running the Manchester Half Marathon on 15th October 2023 to raise £500 for the Stroke Association. We are determined to make sure that everyone affected by stroke gets the support they need to rebuild their lives. With your help, we can make this happen!
Please join us in supporting this cause by donating whatever you can towards our goal of £500 for the Stroke Association.
