Story

Hi

I am very proud to be a Trustee of Bristol Afterstroke (BAS) and will be taking part in a 6 mile walk in support of this Charity later this month

A stroke is sudden and shocking and affects every part of your life and is the leading cause of adult disability. A stroke can not only leave people with physical, and sometimes cognitive, difficulties, but they can also be left with low confidence and self-esteem and poor support. Even those without a lasting physical disability will tell you that the impact on their emotional wellbeing, daily life and planning for the future is huge. Without BAS services and support, many people in the area would be left feeling alone, vulnerable and lost after having a stroke.

Locally where BAS operate in Bristol and South Gloucestershire there are approximately 12,000 people that live with stroke. Over the next year they expect to support over 1,000 individuals and their families and carers across Bristol and South Gloucestershire to rebuild their lives after a stroke. BAS clients say they feel more confident, less isolated, and, overall, better able to adapt to life after stroke.

Please support BAS in this vital work!
