Story
Oktoberfest 2022 I was drinking, dancing and generally acting like an idiot with my good friend James Eade and by the following October we had received the devastating news that he had lost his battle with cancer.
Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting James would attest that he was the happiest, nicest, most genuine guy that you could ever meet. On top of all of the nice things about him, he also served his country as a member of the RAF which just goes to show the awful and indiscriminate nature of cancer.
When I first considered taking on this challenge I spoke with James’s wife Hayley and asked her which charity I could raise funds for in memory of him and she helped me to pick Young Lives vs Cancer.
When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.
At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We’ll face it all together – but we can’t do it without you.
