Story
I shall be walking/staggering with my family, as far as I am able, in order to raise money for BAS (Bristol After Stroke) a wonderful local charity and one I know from experience thanks to the support they provided me during my own rehabilitation.
Locally where BAS operate in Bristol and South Gloucestershire there are approximately 12,000 people that live with stroke. Over the next year they expect to support around 1,400 individuals and their families and carers across Bristol and South Gloucestershire to rebuild their lives after a stroke. Their clients tell us they feel more confident, less isolated, and, overall, better able to adapt to life after stroke.
A stroke is sudden and shocking and affects every part of your life and is the leading cause of adult disability. A stroke can not only leave people with physical, and sometimes cognitive, difficulties, but they can also be left with low confidence and self-esteem and poor support. Even those without a lasting physical disability will tell you that the impact on their emotional wellbeing, daily life and planning for the future is huge. Without our services and support, many people in the area would be left feeling alone, vulnerable and lost after having a stroke.
Thank you all in advance for your support.
