Story
The Matt Hampson Foundation inspires and supports young people seriously injured through sport through its unique Get Busy Living centre in rural Leicestershire. The centre provides expert physiotherapy, specialist personal training, support, mentoring and advice to people suffering a life-changing injury.
The centre’s doors were opened in 2018 by Founder and ex-England and Leicester Tigers rugby player Matt Hampson, who himself experienced a life-changing injury in 2005.
I have been there to see the great work they do and would very much like to help them continue. Two of my fellow team mates from Team BRIT have also been treated there so this organisation is very close to my heart.
We will be attempting to drive/ride/cling onto a Tuk-Tuk (the worlds most technologically advanced mode of transport) for approximately 3500km from Jaisalmer in the North East down to Kochi on the South Coast of India.
This trip will be challenging, the Tuk-Tuk is not a world leader in long distance travel or comfort of any kind, even on smooth roads… of which there are none.
My fellow adventurists Gordon Baird and João Costa will be joining me on the adventure. Gordon is Scottish and can find a good bar at a moments notice, João is tall so can get my wheelchair off the roof when needed and my job is to keep the Tuk-Tuk operational and upright.
