Story
Hi my name is Justin and I am one of several beavers living in Cornwall. My mates live in Ladock, Helman Tor and now in the Par and Fowey river catchment area -and boy do we work hard. Busy as beavers- as the saying goes. We transform landscapes in remarkable ways ,you know, by creating wetland habitats that boost biodiversity, reduce the risk of flooding and increase drought resilience. But our work doesn’t just benefit nature, it benefits you people too.
But what have I got to do with Paul’s fundraising story you may ask. Well, my friend Paul is a staff nurse at Treliske. When he isn’t healing the sick, he volunteers for Cornwall Wildlife Trust - supporting its Beaver Project and giving talks about Cornwall Wildlife Trust through its Speaker Network
Then there is my mate Matt - the chief executive of Cornwall Wildlife Trust. He walked the entire coastline of Cornwall in 2025 - 300 miles !! He said it was an amazing experience and he saw so much wonderful wildlife like kestrels, seals and even choughs. He raised almost £4000 to help sustain Cornwalls wildlife for people like you to enjoy
This got me thinking and I decided to do one myself. So I’ve teamed up with Paul, and we are doing our own walk in aid of Cornwall Wildlife Trust.
On 15th May we will set off from Minehead in Somerset at the start of the Southwest Coast Path and walk 630 miles until we reach Poole in Dorset
I will lead this expedition and while we are away, I will keep you informed of where we are heading each day - we would love for you to join us or say hello when you can
My updates will have pictures showing me in new and exciting places, many where beavers dont tend to go! They will include brief descriptions of the people and the wildlife that we encounter along the way.
Pauls job is simply to carry all our equipment like the tent, cooker, food , sleeping bags, sleeping mats, spare pants etc etc
So please dig deep and give what you can because every penny helps nature thrive.
And here’s a little piece from Cornwall Wildlife Trust
“Justin and Paul’s incredible endeavour to walk the Southwest Coast Path illustrates the passion that people have for protecting the wildlife and places, in Cornwall and beyond. We are always grateful for the amazing things our fundraisers do – thank you Justin and Paul, we are excited to see your journey “
