Story

In the early hours of February 3rd we lost my beautiful wife Marie, she was 44 and this was her third battle against cancer.

St Benedict's Hospice is a relaxing and calming place, a world away from hospital where we were able to spend valuable time together with Marie as a family towards the end of her life.

The staff are amazing, despite working in an environment where the outcome is always likely to be negative they are positive, kind, caring and empathetic. They not only treated her symptoms but got to know who she was as a person. The hospice provides so much more than end of life care, with complimentary treatments for patients and counselling being provided to their families.

Marie didn't want a funeral, but lots of people have asked about sending flowers to us. If you were planning to send flowers then as a family we would prefer that you donate to this worthy cause. Marie always put the needs of others ahead of herself, by donating in her memory she can continue to help families in a similar position even after she has gone.
