Paul's fundraiser for The Brain Tumour Charity

Dog Sledding Arctic Challenge for the Brain Tumour Charity · 7 March 2025
Inspired by the wildlife photographer Gordon Buchanan's getting close to incredible huskies on a treacherous dogsled adventure through Canada's spectacular Yukon wilderness and a subsequent charity brainstorming session with a like minded buddy we decided to take on this Arctic Challenge, it's not the Yukon but the Swedish Arctic. Together with a team of 7 other adventurers representing the Built Environment industry I will be responsible for a pack of huskies pulling a sled across the Arctic Circle for 7 days to raise funds for the Brain Tumour Charity.
Sadly we lost an industry friend and I have witnessed the shocking experience of losing a young family member, both with brain tumours. I hope that the money I raise helps this world leading brain tumour charity to move further, faster to help every single person affected by a brain tumour.
As the "senior" member of our team (I will officially be classed as a pensioner at the time of the event!) I am not underestimating the challenge of surviving in the frozen wilderness and travelling a total of 170km across 5 days with our nightly base being a cabin where we sleep on reindeer skins, We will not have electricity, no running water, our source of water being a frozen lake and heat will be from wood we will have to forage and chop for the fire. As a dog lover, my priority will be my pack of dogs and to ensure they are cared for and fed before I think about my own needs.
The challenge runs from 7th to 13th March 2025 and my target is to raise £5,000. Your support with my challenge will make a meaningful impact to find new treatments, offering the highest level of support and driving urgent change because when someone is diagnosed with a brain tumour a cure really can't wait.
