On Sunday 27th of April 2025 I will be running the London Marathon on behalf of Sobell House Hospice. Sobell House provides specialist palliative and end-of-life care for adults with life-limiting illness. Sobell House was founded in 1976 and was one of the UK’s earliest modern hospices to exist. Sobell House mission is to enrich the lives of their patients and those who love and care for them. Sobell House helps people to live well for as long as they can, and, when the time comes, help them have a good end of life.

Sobell House aim is to ensure that excellent palliative and end-of-life care is available to everybody in our community who needs it. Every year, they care for over 4,000 people and their loved ones.

Unfortunately, the Andrew family needed Sobell House support last year as Sally’s (my wife) Mum (Joan) become very ill following a cancer diagnosis six years ago. Joan had to move in with the Andrew family in August 2023 so we could care for and support Joan. Sadly, Joan’s health deteriorated, and Joan passed in December 2023 a few days before Christmas. Sadly, Joan never got to see her granddaughter get married and to see her new great grandson in 2024.

Sobell House supported us through these very difficult times and the Andrew family could not have coped without Sobell House help and support. Words cannot express how thankful the Andrew family are to Sobell House who support and cared for Joan through the last months of Joan’s life and especially the leadership from Ali and Ali’s team of carers.

I was lucky to be invited to run the London Marathon on behalf of Sobell House to say thank you for caring for Joan and supporting the Andrew family through these difficult times. So, if you could sponsor me to raise funds for Sobell House I would be most grateful as I need to say a massive thank you to Sobell House for everything they have done for Joan and the Andrew family.

A penny or a pound raised will support Sobell House for their great work they carry out to support specialist palliative care and support their loved ones at the time of need.
