Story
Thank you for coming to my fundraising page... by reading the below, you are already helping to create awareness for a wonderful charity, who do fantastic work caring for families when they need it most, as well as keeping the memory of my mate Mel alive...
Tom "Mel" Messenger was a friend to so many. He was the life and soul of everything we did at University and a huge part, mostly for good, of my time at Winchester.
Nearly two years ago, when Tom was so cruelly taken from this world, I was shocked. Not because it was sudden, but because this man who I had looked up to and seemed invincible, had been taken from those who loved him.
Tom and his family had fantastic support from a local hospice and it just so happened a local hospice to me, The Princess Alice Hospice, was fundraising at my local Esher Rugby Club, around the time of Tom's passing.
I saw it as a sign that the big man was looking down and telling me to do something... something that would help others who are in those difficult times him and his family had experienced.
Through fundraising, I have seen and spoken to people who have benefited from the great work that hospices do, throughout the country, not just for the patient, but the family that are left behind.
Princess Alice Hospice provides services that respond to the individual needs of patients and their families, so that they can live life to the full, create memories, share special moments and when the time comes, support them, before and after the death of a loved one.
It costs £10.1 million each year to provide free, high quality specialist end of life care to tens of thousands of people with life threatening illnesses. PAH rely on the wonderful supporters like you to help them generate thousands of pounds through participating in events like the TSC London Marathon.
Hopefully, the above helps you know where your kind donation is going and what Prince Alice do with those funds to support families during their hardest times.
Thank you.
