Story
During lockdown, our wonderful road in Staple Hill decided to have a group Christmas Lights Switch on, all based on one our our residents trips to New York at Christmas, where they did a tour of Dyker Heights. Dyker Heights, Brooklyn has become famous for their house lights, and it all started back in the 1980’s by Lucy Sparta when she moved to the neighborhood. She decorates her house to to carry on the tradition her mother had started. In fact, all the angel decorations are in honor her mom’s memory. Eventually all the surrounding houses decorated, and now over 100,000 people visit the area each year.
As for Park Road, we were overwhelmed by the amount of people that turned up to see it happen. We’ve done it every year since and this year we are hoping to do it all again, all in aid of St Peter’s Hospice.
