Story
In loving memory of 10-year-old Pearl Dixie BartlettBundy and to raise awareness and funds for Childhood Cancer, her father Jamie and his two brothers John and Stuart are taking on an arduous paddleboarding trip right across Scotland from the West Coast to the East!
Starting from Bowling Harbour on the West Coast they will be paddling for 3 days covering the full 100km on first the Forth & Clyde Canal and then the Union Canal to Edinburgh. All three are no strangers to pushing themselves or crazy adventures but it’s further than any of them have paddled before and will be a real challenge of endurance and brotherly love.
The journey takes in around 20 locks, a very high aqueduct (!), and navigation of the Falkirk Wheel.
Pearl’s family set up #PearlPower a special fund with the Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group, the UK’s largest charity researching into children’s cancer. To date #PearlPower has helped fund two new research projects designed to tackle earlier diagnosis, more successful treatment, and prevention of relapse of all childhood cancers with poor outcomes.
There have been excellent improvements into the treatment of some of the 86 different childhood cancers but sadly many of them still have very low rates of survival and extremely brutal treatments – many children die from the side effects of the treatment alone.
Please sponsor us to help save future children and their families from the tragedy of Childhood Cancer. Every penny pledged will give Jamie, John and Stuart a little more strength in their arms that they are really going to need!
