Story

Thank you for visiting my page. I’m proud to be running the 2025 TCS London Marathon and raising important funds and awareness for Anaphylaxis UK, a charity that has been important to me since before I was 3.

From the day I was born, life has been a constant battle with severe allergies to eggs and nuts. These aren’t just minor inconveniences but life-threatening conditions that have led to countless close shaves in hospital, with emergency situations at home and abroad. Anaphylaxis is a serious (potentially fatal) allergic reaction which must be treated immediately. My Epi Pen is always with me and has been a lifesaver for many sufferers.

Everyday activities for those at risk of anaphylaxis that many take for granted, like social gatherings, eating at restaurants, or even food shopping, can be full of danger. Despite best efforts for myself and others to avoid allergens, accidental exposures still happen.

The constant need for caution takes a huge mental toll on sufferers and their friends/families. My loved ones have perpetual anxiety about my well-being. Simple joys, like a holiday meal or new dish can be overshadowed by the looming threat of an allergic reaction.

Since I was a child, I have learnt that I am not alone in this fight. There are others living with similar fears and challenges. This shared experience has led me to connect with Anaphylaxis UK, who are dedicated to supporting those like myself, and advocating for better awareness and safety measures in our society. They have provided support to me since nursery, through university, and have continued to do so into my adult life.

In an effort to give back and help others who are navigating the same journey, I have decided to run the 2025 London Marathon to raise vital funds for Anaphylaxis UK. I hope to also raise awareness about the seriousness of food allergies and to support in any way possible.

My goal is to help create a world where those with severe allergies can live with less fear and more freedom, knowing that there is support in place to protect them.

Together we can all make a massive difference in the lives of people with severe allergies. Whether it’s through a donation, spreading the word, or simply being more mindful about allergies - one day we will ensure no one has to face the terrifying reality of anaphylaxis alone.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the UK, 1-2% of adults and 5-8% of children have a food allergy; this equates to nearly 3 million people. Hospital admissions due to allergies and anaphylaxis in England have nearly doubled in the last twenty years, and 20% of serious allergic reactions to food happen whilst a child is at school.

Anaphylaxis UK is the only UK-wide charity operating solely for the growing numbers of people at risk of serious allergic reactions and anaphylaxis. For 30 years, they have been striving for a brighter and safer future for everyone living with a serious allergy by providing trusted and scientifically-based resources and training to individuals and families, education settings, businesses, and healthcare professionals.
