Story
Hi Everyone,
On October the 6th i'll be taking on the challenge of running the Cardiff Half Marathon along with my friends Craig & Ricki Lewis. Anyone who knows me will be aware running isn't exactly my strong suit, which makes this all the more significant. I'm pushing myself out of my comfort zone to raise awareness and funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA), a cause that is very close to my heart.
Three years ago, my family was devastated by the loss of my Aunty Trudy to MND. She was a bright light in all our lives, and watching her struggle with this cruel disease was heartbreaking. Sadly, our pain has been compounded by the recent news that her son, my cousin Ellis, has also been diagnosed with MND at just 30 years old.
MND is a condition that robs people of their ability to move, speak, and eventually breathe, all while their mind remains intact. It's a devastating diagnosis that turns lives upside down, not just for those with the disease but for everyone who loves them.
That's why I'm running to honor the memory of my Aunty Trudy and to support Ellis as he faces this unimaginable challenge and to contribute to the vital work MNDA does in researching treatments and supporting families affected by MND.
This marathon is a personal test for me, but it pales in comparison to the challenges faced by those living with MND. Every step I take will be in memory of Aunty Trudy and for Ellis, who continues to show incredible strenght in the face of such adversity.
Any small donation, no matter the amount, will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much for your generosity and support and thank you to Craig & Ricki Lewis who are also raising awareness for MND and supporting MNDA by running too.
Owen
