Story
From the 14th - 16th of April I will be attempting to complete the famous 4x4x48 challenge with a twist. I'll be doing it ENTIRELY outdoors in and around the Peak District National Park.
The 4x4x48 challenge, popularized by ultra runner and former Navy Seal David Goggins, entails running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours, totaling 48 miles over the two-day period.
In previous years I have attempted this challenge and used my home as base camp. Returning home after each 4 mile run means you can stay warm, eat plenty of food, rehydrate, get clean and most importantly get as much sleep as possible within the hours spent not running.
However, this year, I aim to be almost entirely self-sufficient by carrying everything I need on my back. I plan to stop every 4 miles along the route and rest until it's time to run again. I will sleep, eat, and try to recover my body outdoors.
My primary goal for taking on this challenge is to raise awareness for Pathways of Chesterfield, an organization that supports the homeless and those at risk of homelessness. I have noticed an increase in the number of homeless people in my community, and I believe that we can make a difference by supporting someone in need.
