Story
Our darling Ottoβs story:
Otto was born on 3rd September 2022. Two weeks later he was rushed into hospital after multiple seizures and induced into a coma. Following many tests, Otto was diagnosed with a rare genetic metabolic mitochondrial condition, affecting just a handful of children worldwide.
Otto lived a happy life full of love. At just over four months old, Otto made his way to heaven. He passed away peacefully on 24th January 2023, being doted on with love and kisses.
In honour of our beautiful, brave baby boy, we are raising money for The Lily Foundation, the UK's leading mitochondrial disease charity and the largest charitable funder of mitochondrial research in Europe. Their mission is to improve the lives of people affected by mitochondrial diseases, while working towards a future where mitochondrial diseases can be effectively treated or cured.
Otto is our grandson and is the light of our lives and we are beyond proud to be his grandparents. We were so lucky in that Otto and his Mama and Dada lived with us for the first month of his life, whilst renovating their own home. We have since called this annexe he lived in, Ottoβs Shed. We are letting mito families stay for free, and anyone who wishes to donate after staying in Ottoβs Shed can do so here. When otto passed away in January 2023 we all vowed we would do good in his name for the rest of our lives. This page I (his nonna) will donate to with my own little challenges from time to time too; as well as share any tips raised from Ottoβs shed. I love you forever my otto bear xxxππ¦π
Christine & Michael are helping to raise funds and awareness for Our darling Otto. They are doing carboots in honour of Otto and the Lily foundation. They have been such a fantastic support to all of us and we are eternally grateful to both of them. πππ
