Oscar's fundraiser for RUHX

Bath Half 2025 · 16 March 2025 ·
On May 4th, 2022, my world turned upside down. I was admitted to the Royal United Hospital (RUH) in Bath with suspected meningitis. After countless tests, including, blood tests, CT scans and lumbar punctures, the diagnosis was confirmed. I had evidence of both bacterial and viral meningitis.
It was a terrifying time for me and my family. Meningitis is a severe, life-threatening condition that, without rapid treatment, can lead to sepsis, brain damage, or worse. But thanks to the incredible team at the RUH, I received the care I needed when I needed it most. Their swift action saved my life.
During my 11 days in the hospital, I witnessed firsthand the dedication of the doctors, nurses, and staff. From the specialists who made the diagnosis to the nurses who checked on me tirelessly and kept me company, their kindness and professionalism carried me through one of the hardest experiences of my life. Thanks to them, I was able to recover and made it home just in time to (stubbornly) sit my first-year exams.
Now, it’s my turn to give back.
This year, I’m running the Bath Half Marathon in aid of RUHX, the charity that supports the Royal United Hospital. It’s more than just a personal challenge, it's my way of saying thank you. Thank you for saving lives every day. Thank you for being there for people at their most vulnerable.
If my story resonates with you, or you too would like to say a big thank you to dedicated healthcare professionals, I would greatly appreciate your support.
Together, we can help ensure that the RUH continues to provide life-saving care to those who need it most.
