Story
On 6th August 2023 I will be taking part in the London Triathlon at the Excel Centre! This includes a 1.5km swim, a 40km bike ride, finishing off with a 10km run! I have always wanted to compete in a triathlon to challenge myself and I thought why not sign up this year and fundraise for one of my favourite charities at the same time!!
I have always been passionate about the fight for refugees and making sure that the UK give them the right support needed. I believe that every person who comes into the UK seeking safety should be given a chance at a new life. As a university student, I volunteered to teach refugees English and assist them with any legal paperwork that needed completing for Nottingham Council and this is where I came across the work that Refugee Action does and their huge impact on people's lives.
Refugee Action is a charity that helps people who have survived some of the world's worst regimes get the basic support they need to live again with dignity. They help them build safe, happy and productive lives within the UK and help them rebuild themselves. Refugee Action give expert advice and guidance to those struggling to navigate the failing and unfair asylum system. They help families to settle into their new homes and communities - everything from helping children into schools, to support booking doctors appointments, and ensuring they get a hot meal when they arrive. They also support people who suffer violent attacks or other hate crimes, to ensure they know their rights and get the help they need. Most importantly, Refugee Action is a small charity that has had a huge impact and that's why I am so passionate about giving my support to them.
Thank you so much to each and every one of you that donate to my page and support me! Every single donation is going to motivate me even more to get those miles in before triathlon day and keep me going on the day too!! Thank you xxxx
