Story
2 Years ago, Orange Cyberdefense setup the Wellbeing Group. This is a group of around 20 employees who have volunteered to become Mental Health First Aiders, whilst also arranging and hosting events that support employee wellbeing.
We host regular "wellbeing days" charity raffles, and most importantly company social events! However our main focus has always been on supporting employee mental health.
Back in February some foolish person suggested we organise a charity event to raise money for our chosen charity MIND. As such we announced at our company Kick off that we would be putting together an elite team to try and complete the 3 peaks during 2024. After a very successful training session in April where a select few summitted Mount Snowdon, we set our sites on completing the 3 Peaks Challenge in September 2024.
Sadly, we couldn't find any elite team members, so a few of Orange Cyberdefense UK are going to attempt to summit the 3 highest peaks in the UK (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon) in 24 hours. This means climbing at night, and trying to rest and sleep whilst travelling between the three locations.
Our aim is to make a start on Ben Nevis at 6am on Thursday 12th September and complete our challenge descending Snowdon by 6am on Friday 13th September.
We will be supported by a not so elite support crew, who are swapping their 911's and Bentleys for Mini Buses (IFKYK)
On a serious note, Mental health is no joke, everyone has been directly or indirectly affected at some point in our life by Mental healt. Early support, intervention and access to support services is key, together with encouraging people to talk and help remove the stigma around mental health.
None of the team carrying out this challenge are experienced in this type of challenge, we have people from finance, PMO, SOC, Pre-sales, Sales and Pen Testing. We all have our own reasons for taking part and we will all have our own reasons for completing the challenge.
We would really appreciate any form of donation and sponsorship to support us whilst helping to motivate us on this challenge.
