Event: Moonlight Beach Walk 2024, on 14 September 2024
On Saturday 14 September hundreds of participants take on the spectacular Moonlight Beach Walk and illuminate Weston’s seafront in light and laughter, choosing from either the 10km or 5km route.

Story

Optika Opticians, leading independent opticians in Weston-Super-Mare, recently entered to complete the Weston Hospicecare 10k moonlight beach walk. The money raised will support palliative care for those with life-limiting illnesses in Weston-Super-Mare and North Somerset.

On the 14th of September, the team at Optika Opticians, alongside hundreds of Weston Hospicecare supporters, will tackle the 10k moonlight beach walk, shining Weston’s coast with laughter and light. Armed with sparklers and candle bags, the team will walk in remembrance and support of lost loved ones.

Receiving an end-of-life diagnosis can be difficult, not just for the patient but also for their loved ones. At Weston Hospicecare, our team of palliative care experts is dedicated to working together to provide specialist support. Our social, emotional, psychological, spiritual and physical care helps guide people through one of the most difficult experiences they will ever face. With only 20% of our funding coming from the NHS, we have to raise £5.5 million each year to fund our care - something that's only made possible by our community.
