Story
Welcome back to Operation MadLad ‘26 - Now in its fifth year!
Each year, we take on a 24-hour charity livestream to raise money for a cause that means something to us, and this year we’re supporting the British Heart Foundation. We’d be incredibly grateful for your support.
This year’s cause is again, a very personal one. A few years ago, Sarah’s mum, Joyce, suffered a major heart attack and had to undergo open heart surgery, as doctors were unable to fit a stent due to its location. More recently, earlier this March, she experienced another heart attack, fortunately a minor one, but it’s a constant reminder of how suddenly and unpredictably these conditions can strike.
Thankfully, Joyce is doing well, but her experience shows just how important the work of the British Heart Foundation really is.
The British Heart Foundation has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK, but sadly every day hundreds of people still lose their lives. Their work goes far beyond statistics, they fund groundbreaking research into heart attacks, strokes, and vascular dementia, support the development of new treatments and surgical techniques, and help improve early diagnosis so conditions can be caught before they become life-threatening.
They also provide vital support and information to patients and families, helping people better understand their conditions and live longer, healthier lives. From funding the scientists in labs to supporting those on the front line of care, the British Heart Foundation plays a critical role in fighting heart disease at every level.
It’s only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can continue this work, creating new treatments, discovering new cures, and giving people more time with those they love.
£24 could fund just two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound genuinely makes a difference.
If you’re able to donate, no matter the amount, it would mean a lot to us, and it could help save lives.
Thank you so much for your support.
