We raise funds for one punch awareness to to reduce attacks and save lives

Story

As many people will be aware of over recent years there has been a number of one-punch deaths around the UK, with six fatal tragedies in Humberside over the last two years.

As a Journalist covering Hull for That’s TV, Charlie Walden first came across the story of Scott Akester last year and was immediately impacted.

In 2022, Scott was sadly killed in an unprovoked one punch attack by someone he had known for over 17 years.

Following his death, his parents, Steve and Debbie launched their charity, One Punch Hull & East Yorkshire to raise awareness of these attacks, and the devastating impact they have.

After hearing their story, Charlie & Ben have decided to do a walk from Chesterfield (Charlie’s hometown) to Hull beginning on the 18th of May, and finishing on the 19th, to raise profile of the issue, and money for the charity.

Debbie and Steve plan to open a walk-in centre in the City, alongside their work educating children, pubs, clubs and prisons about these attacks.

We hope the money we raise can go some way in making this walk-in centre a reality. Most importantly, we hope we can get the message across that there is no need to throw that needless punch. Stop, think, and walk away; you could save a life.

All donations will be greatly appreciated. I hope to see as many of you as possible get behind us and what this is about. Please reshare this on your feed/stories and let's spread the message far and wide👊
