Story
From the 27th of July- 2nd of August 2024 I'll be walking the 135 km Norfolk Coast Path over the course of 1 week.
I'll be doing this to raise vital funds & awareness for LandAid to assist in their mission to end youth homelessness in the UK.
I've never done anything like this before & it won't be easy....nor should it be though. It's a really small sacrifice to make in the great scheme of things.
If you're wondering why I'm undertaking this adventure, you can find a few of the reasons below.......
f you’ll indulge me, I’d like to explain why I’m taking 7 days away from my Wife & Daughters to walk the 135km hashtag#NorfolkCoastPath this summer to help raise money & awareness to end youth homelessness in the UK for LandAid.
There are some pretty painful memories in here so if you can spare the time, it would be appreciated as I’m not really one for putting it all out there but sometimes you’ve just got to stick your head above the parapet…… Go hard or go home, right?
Back in 2013 the Wife & I tied the knot.
We were accompanied by our 4 Daughters. Kinsey was 9, Nyah was 7, Willow was 3 & Dempsey was 1.
3 weeks later I lost the use of my legs.
A good day meant crutches.
A bad day put me in a wheelchair & my Wife had to put my socks on my feet.
I had more operations & medical procedures than I wish to recount over about 4 years.
I lost my job & very nearly my home. Not just me though…..My family.
We were 3 days away from being homeless.
The scars are not visible but they are indelible.
My Daughters had to endure seeing me in this way at such young ages but thankfully are unaware of how close we were to being homeless.
We were very lucky to have financial support from family members in the end……Not everyone is though.
For anyone wondering why I do what I do for LandAid through CoStar Group CoStar UK, this is why.
My family & I were incredibly fortunate and I am so aware of the lasting emotional damage that can be done when circumstances are beyond your control.
I consider myself extraordinarily privileged to be in a position now where I can help.
Last year there were an estimated 121,000 young people who are homeless. This is a 40% rise in five years. Young people facing homelessness need our support more than ever.
LandAid bring the property industry together to support charities delivering life-changing services for young homeless people.
Your donation will help ensure that young people facing homelessness have a safe, secure and positive future.
