Jane's life changed the day that she received a diagnosis of MS in March 2020. Due to Covid, instead of getting the news in person and having the opportunity to talk it through, it was given in a one page impersonal letter.
"It was totally unexpected and I felt my world pivoted on it's axis as I read my diagnosis letter. My MS diagnosis affects Ian and my whole family. We all have to find a way to live with it. Our aim is to keep our world spinning and following the Overcoming MS program helps us to do just that", Jane says.
There are 2.5 million people worldwide with multiple sclerosis, and it is one of the most common disabling conditions amongst young adults. But there is hope beyond a diagnosis of MS. Overcoming MS is the world’s leading multiple sclerosis self-management charity. Our vision is that everyone with MS can lead the fullest life possible, using the practical, proven and positive Overcoming MS Self-Management Programme.
A keen cyclist, Ian has long dreamt of cycling from our home in Devon to the Pyrenees. Using the challenge to raise money for a cause that has a positive impact every single day for us was an easy choice to make. Although choosing to raise money of Overcoming MS was easy, preparing and undertaking the Door to Door challenge will test both Jane and Ian's strength, energy as well as our sense of humour.
"We will be covering the costs of the trip, such as fuel, campsite fees, food etc ourselves because we want as much money as possible to go to Overcoming MS" says Ian.
