Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
My mum and I are trekking to Everest Base Camp in September, to raise funds for John Eastwood Hospice Trust, who looked after my father (Peter Mooney) before he passed away due to Cancer.
My dad originated from the north east, and moved down to the east midlands for work. He met my mum and they married - then had me. Although they separated many years ago, my parents retained a great relationship and remained friends till he passed away in 2022. My mum was my rock through the whole thing and she helped me so much with his care during his last few years.
We decided we would like to raise money for the John Eastwood Hospice as they were absolutely amazing with my dad - they couldn't have done more to help.
They are fully funded by donations and provide a service to families like yours and mine during some of the most difficult times. When thinking of what we would like to do, mum said she had always wanted to trek to Everest Base Camp, so that’s what we are doing, a mum and son adventure! At the highest point there is just 50% oxygen compared to sea level and there’s the risk of altitude sickness, so with mum being 68 and me being 40, it’s a massive challenge for us both.
We are fully funding the trip ourselves, all money raised will go direct to the Hospice.
We appreciate times are hard right now so please only donate if you can afford it. We are truly grateful for any and all donations we receive.
You can also help John Eastwood Hospice Trust in other ways, such as hosting your own events, donating items for them to sell or raffle off - please contact Lisa, the fundraising coordinator to learn more about how you can help: lisa.todd@johneastwoodhospice.org.uk
These charities are only able to exist and help people because of donations from wonderful people like you.
Thank you
