Story
I am soon to be setting off on my first adventure challenge with my mum!
Our challenge is to sled over 240km across sweden
We will be camping and required to erect our own tents, go ice fishing for tea 🎣, cook for ourselves and fulfil all camping duties with the equipment provided. In addition to looking after ourselves, we’ll also be responsible for looking after our teams of huskies all whilst in near sub zero conditions.
We will Drive own team of husky dogs across the Arctic in a “challenging” climate with snow and ice as far as the eye can see, the daytime temperature is close to freezing. The night temperatures can drop to below -20 degrees C.
The sledding will be demanding, We often travel uphill, dismounting to help push the sled when the gradient becomes too steep for the huskies to pull alone. We will be sledding for 5 consecutive days in freezing temperatures . Our typical day begins at around 8.00am when we will have breakfast after preparing the dogs (feeding, harnessing and clearing up after them) and our sled for the day. We then depart for the day’s sledding. The day ends again with feeding and preparing the dogs for the evening.
So what it doesn’t say here are these dogs are working dogs, and as they run they 💩and most likely you are behind them when they go, you can fill in the picture from there!!
Mum is panicking over the cold and the thought of her hair snapping off. I'm however, panicking over spending a week with my mum! (I love her really)
Me and mum would love to raise £1800 between us for this epic challenge, and every penny will go to Claire House Children’s Hospice
If you can spare £1 that would be awesome - and don’t forget to gift aid, it really does makes a massive difference! Thank you.
