Story
When I first started displaying symptoms of my liver failing, I didn't know King's would be the place to save my life. Now I can't stop thinking about everything they've done for my family and I during my recovery process. So, I've decided my next challenge will be running a half marathon to help the people that helped me.
In July 2019 I initially went to my GP with what I thought were mild symptoms. However, little did I know these were the warning signs of me becoming gravely ill. After being sent to my local hospital in Plymouth, three days later I was in a medically induced coma, fighting for my life in King's College Hospital Liver ITU. I had severe acute liver failure, along with various complications, and my family had to watch not knowing whether I'd survive. After nine days in a coma, I finally woke up and after a few more weeks at King's I was fit enough to be discharged.
To this day, I will always be grateful for the staff for not just saving my life, but supporting my family and I through the most terrifying experience. They truly are a huge credit to the NHS and this is something I have continued to talk about since this experience.
Since 2019 I have participated in events for King's College Hospital Charity. Now I am lucky enough to say I'll be taking part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2025 alongside my mum. I cannot wait to cross that finish line. So please help me make that a memorable moment by supporting me with my fundraising target.
