‘Crazy’, ‘that’s mad’, ‘you can’t do that’ are some of the comments that I have received for my fundraising idea. I am going to do 15 athletic challenges to match the 15 days of radiotherapy my wife received. This will include running, cycling and triathlons with a real crescendo finish of 4 marathons in 7 weeks and one weekend of pain with the Three Peaks Fell race and London Marathon. I am doing this because in January this year, my world was thrown into complete shock when my wife, Lynsey, was diagnosed with breast cancer, seemingly out of nowhere.

I have decided I want to raise money for the great charity Breast Cancer Now.

Without the vital research carried out by Breast Cancer Now, my wife would not have received the level of care and personalised medical intervention that she did. Without research she would not have been diagnosed so quickly and operated on so well. Without research she wouldn't have had to take radioactive material and a blue dye, assuming this was the time she jokingly thought she would become a superhero, but sadly only gaining blue pee and half a blue boob. Research into further developments can only help people like my wife, my mother and everyone who will be diagnosed with cancer in the future.

My wife with her positive attitude and stoic nature towards her diagnosis and treatment has inspired me to push myself to complete 15 challenges to raise as much money I possibly can for Breast Cancer Now.
