Story
On the 7th of July I will be taking part in the longest-running charity cycling event throughout the Cotswolds, completing 100 miles (160km), in memory of my father-in-law Mark Fleetwood. In doing so, I'm aiming to raise as much money along the way for Sue Ryder Hospice, Leckhampton.
Mark sadly passed away in February of this year, after a long and courageous 6-year fight against prostate cancer, during which time he took part in many clinical trials paving the way to help others. Mark also enjoyed cycling and during lockdown 2020 completed a static cycle marathon raising awareness and fundraising for Prostate Cancer UK.
During the final few weeks of his life, Sue Ryder Hospice provided Mark and the whole family with the most compassionate care. Their support made a very difficult time that little bit easier and we as a family could never repay them for what they did for us. Any donations made in Mark's honour will go a long way towards helping the Hospice continue to provide end of life care and support to other families.
“Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can access the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with Sue Ryder's support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. How a family spends their final days together should always be on their own terms. However they choose to say goodbye, we can make sure the room is always filled with love.
How Your Donations Help:
-£20 could pay for a patients meals for a day in one of our Hospices
- £25 could help fund an hour of expert care and help fill another family's final days with love
- £145 could help pay for a Sue Ryder Nurse, providing expert, compassionate care for a day
- £600 could help fund 24 hours of expert care so that someone can spend their final days in familiar surroundings, with treasured memories and their family”
