Since 2022, more than 40 families from Ukraine have made their home within the community of Odiham and the surrounding area. Most of them have children who attend local schools and colleges and have made friends with their English peers.

Many of these young Ukrainian people are very musical and are part of bands, orchestras and ensembles in the area and just before Christmas 2024, several of them approached me, the local Youth and children's Pastor, to ask if I could support them in putting on a concert alongside their English friends to raise money for a 4x4 filled with humanitarian aid for Ukraine.

Obviously I said yes! I quickly got in touch with a local lady, who has already driven 3 4x4's out to Ukraine as part of Pickups for Peace, and asked if she would get involved, and so was born our plan!

24th February marks the 3rd anniversary of the full scale war, which directly impacts more than 30 children and young people in our local area - some of which have relatives fighting on the front line. Some even, unfortunately, know first hand the importance of getting injured personnel to medical units with great speed.

Since its formation in February 2023, Pickups for Peace has dedicated itself to supplying four- wheel drive vehicles and urgently required aid to the people of Ukraine. All trucks donated have provided valuable support on the ground to aid effort in Ukraine and we are committed to delivering pick-ups till the conflict is over.
