Story
Marie Curie Hospice, Belfast has been providing exceptional care to local people for over 50 years. Every day at the hospice is filled with extraordinary moments that touch our hearts. We need to raise £6,150 per day to ensure the hospice can continue its vital work. Every penny counts towards making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
That's why we have decided to participate in the Belfast Marathon Relay 2024 with two teams. Many of us are beginners and can't run the length of ourselves, myself included. But we have challenged ourselves because we know it's nothing compared to the challenges our patients face every day.
At Marie Curie Hospice, we listen, support, and provide high-quality care during what can be a difficult and distressing time for our patients and their families. We take the time to get to know each person as an individual, discovering what brings them joy and making those things happen. Whether it's sitting with them in the garden, arranging visits from their beloved pets, or offering complimentary therapy and activities, we focus on creating special moments that bring happiness.
We have celebrated birthdays, witnessed new life entering the world, cheered on exam successes, witnessed weddings and date nights, and even brought Christmas forward so families could share one last precious holiday together. Our support extends beyond just patients; we also provide essential assistance to carers and families through bereavement support and counseling from our incredible social workers, family support team, and multidisciplinary professionals.
As a team at Marie Curie Hospice, Belfast, we are dedicated to providing compassionate and empathetic care. We take our role seriously; we come with smiles that offer comfort and wise words. We wipe away tears but most importantly, we forge genuine friendships with our patients and their families. We strive to bring comfort during the hardest days of their lives.
