Story

Northern Training Academy are partnering with Alder Hey Children's Charity to raise vital funds to sponsor a family visit room at the new Mental Health Hub to ensure young patients with the most challenging and enduring mental health conditions are cared for.

We know that 7 in 10 children with mental health difficulties do not have access to the support they need early enough. To address this problem, Alder Hey Childrens Hospital is building a bespoke Mental Health Hub that will help them to care for the most vulnerable young patients and change the future of childrens mental health.

Alder Hey's new Mental Health Hub presents a crucial, once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape the way we look after children and young people with mental health conditions in the North West and beyond. With the support of our generous donors, we can ensure that children with the most complex and challenging mental health conditions are cared for in the very best environment that will support their journey to recovery and rehabilitation back into their communities. We hope you will join us on this journey.

Lydias story

"My journey began when I was 15. I had been struggling for a long time - I knew I needed help but was so scared and feared how those around me would react. Telling my parents was the hardest thing of all. Admitting that I was unwell and couldnt help myself was scary. I was quickly assessed here at Alder Hey and have since had regular weekly appointments.

Im extremely grateful to all the staff at Alder Hey who have supported me in my darkest times. I have learnt to live and accept that my illness will always be with me; but I have been able to find ways to cope. I can now look forward to the future - something that was not possible only a year ago.

Lydia, 19, former CAMHS patient

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this summary of the 7 in 10 Mental Health Appeal. We sincerely hope this communicates the absolute essentiality of the new facility and the clear need to develop a fit-for-purpose Mental Health Hub to ensure young patients with the most challenging and enduring mental health conditions are offered the best care and support possible.
