Why PSPA?
For colleague Sammie Drew, PSPA is a charity close to her heart.
Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) is a neurological condition caused by the premature loss of nerve cells in certain parts of the brain, and is often misdiagnosed as Parkinson’s. When my mother passed away in 2019 she had suffered with PSP for around 7 years. My mothers condition started with a few falls, and over years progressed to being unable to communicate or move in any way for 2 years. My mother suffered heavily with this illness and inevitably it led to her passing, but for our family the impact of witnessing my mother’s decline from PSP has been longstanding. At the moment there’s no cure for PSP but organisations like PSP association support families dealing with PSP and fund research into a cure. PSPA is the only charity supporting people with this condition in the UK.
About PSPA
PSPA is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of people living with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD). We provide information and support for people affected by PSP & CBD whilst funding research into the causes, treatment, and eventually a cure. Together we can stop PSP & CBD in their tracks.
