Story
I am running the Saucony London 10K for Freedom from Torture, a cause that is profoundly close to my heart.
I am a survivor of torture myself. Following the August 2023 coup in Gabon, I was arbitrarily detained for twenty months and subjected to severe physical and psychological torture. I survived. Many do not. And those who do are left with wounds, both visible and invisible, that take years to heal.
Freedom from Torture is one of the very few organisations in the UK dedicated to helping survivors rebuild their lives. They provide therapy, medical documentation, legal and welfare support, and a community in which survivors can begin to heal, feel safe and reclaim their dignity. Their work is quietly extraordinary, and it changes lives.
Torture is not a relic of the past. It happens today, in too many places, to too many people. Behind every statistic is a human being whose life has been shattered and who deserves the chance to rebuild.
By supporting my run, you are directly helping survivors of torture access the care, the safety and the support they need to heal. Every donation, however small, makes a real difference.
Thank you for standing with survivors. Thank you for standing with me.
