50 mile bike ride · 6 July 2024

The Police Unity Tour is a long-distance cycle ride undertaken by hundreds of police officers across the UK, to raise awareness and funds for Care of Police Survivors.

Story

As part of wider fundraising for COPS Police Unity Tour 2024 Nottinghamshire Police Officers and Staff will be taking part in a 50 mile bike ride in memory of Sgt Graham Saville who was killed in the line of duty after being struck by a train whilst trying to save a member of public in August 2023.

The ride will start at Notts Police HQ and ride through Ravenshead where Graham coached a junior football team, through his home town of Southwell where his children will join the ride and through Newark where he was based as a response Sgt. All money raised will go to COPS charity who support families of Police officers who have died in the line of duty.

COPS provides peer support opportunities and access to counselling services to help surviving family members (‘survivors’) rebuild their shattered lives.

"Your loss is a part of who you are but COPS helps you realise that it doesn’t define you. We are all one big family."

Since its foundation in 2003, COPS has helped hundreds of police families devastated by the loss of a loved one who died on duty.
