Story
In 2018 I was the President of the Rotary Club of Nottingham and organised a Charity Fundraising Bike Ride from John O 'Groats to Lands End. Five years later I'm President again and have helped organise another ride. This time it's the Coast to Coast (C2C) or Sea to Sea.
It's going to be a punishing two day ride from Barrow in Furness to Whitby taking in the undulations of the Lake District on day one and the North Yorkshire Moors on day two. Total distance is 149 miles and the hills will provide almost 11,000 feet of elevation to cycle up.
Luckily I've managed to rope 14 other people to do the ride, as well as support drivers to make sure we get there and back.
The Charity we are fundraising for is Footprints Conductive Education Centre. https://www.footprintscec.org/
About Footprints:
Footprints is a Nottingham based charity which transforms the lives of children with mobility and communication difficulties across the East Midlands. At our centre and through our support, babies and children develop the skills they need to thrive and achieve their potential.
Our work is inspired by the principles and practices of Conductive Education, a holistic education approach developed to help children with disabilities consciously learn the life skills that come more naturally to others. Our work encourages the development of physical, communication, social, sensory, self-help and thinking skills, such as sitting, standing, touching, listening, looking, eating and playing.
I'm a firm believer that every child deserves the best opportunity and start in life and Footprints work hard to deliver those opportunities to the children and families they support. The funds they raise will be used to purchase additional equipment and to deliver swimming lessons for the children.
