We raise funds for a school in Kenya to provide care and education for children

Story

On 29th June 2024, starting in the early hours of the morning, four intrepid (foolhardy?) souls will set out to walk the entire 88km Northampton Round for a charity founded in the town.

Lewis, Luke, Tom and Stuart will walk the Round in a day, setting off from Brixworth Country Park at 2am and hopefully(!) finishing before midnight at the same spot. The route takes in several charming Northamptonshire villages just beyond the town boundary, making its way through rolling English countryside. Unfortunately, the many fabulous pubs en route will be strictly off limits during their walk!

Can you sponsor the lads to complete their epic charity walk and raise much needed funds for the Karuri School Project?

Any donation is of course very welcome, but we invite you to support at one of the following giving levels:

The four lads are taking on the Northampton Round to raise money for a Northampton cause. They’re fundraising for the Karuri School Project Trust, a charity founded in Northampton in 2012 that has built and continues to maintain a residential primary school in rural Kenya for vulnerable and orphaned children.

The school is named after the Sacred Heart Church in Weston Favell, which has helped the founder of the school Wangari Karuri (who lived and worked in Northampton) through the project’s lifetime to raise funds for buildings, materials, and even livestock. You can find out more about the school and progress made here.

Hundreds of pupils have been helped by Wangari and the school, with many now attending Universities and training to become professionals.

To continue helping the ever growing number of pupils, more infrastructure is needed at the school. The charity has part-funded a new building which will encompass an administration office, staff room, IT facilities, library, workshop and science laboratory. The structure, plastering, tiling and flooring works have been completed already thanks to the generosity of donors. Additional funds are needed to finish the works – to complete a hard surface covered walkway around the new building and to equip and secure it for use.

Your support will mean so much to the four walkers, but more importantly it will help vulnerable children in Kenya via the Karuri School Project.

(Thank you in advance,

Lewis, Luke, Tom & Stuart)
