Story
Since 2017, Roots has been responding to the needs of displaced refugees and migrants in the Grand-Synthe/Dunkirk area.
The people Roots serve are in need of sustainable provision of basic services such as potable water, electricity for charging their electronic equipment, showers and hygiene products. This is because the French state has not been willing to provide even the most essential facilities in response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis. Roots has been filling this gap, creating innovative solutions and ensuring that essential services were delivered in a sustainable, dignified and secure manner to over 5.000 people.
Nevertheless, the tightening of French/English border controls and the amelioration of weather conditions could lead to an influx of people as observed in previous years. Funds are urgently needed to enable Roots to continue its humanitarian work, expand its operations to ultimately meet the increasing demand of essential services in Northern France.

Roots are a key player in providing displaced people with the basic necessities of life and recognising their dignity. It's been an absolute honour to have worked with them for the past month.
I'm going to be running a 10k and a 10k tough mudder in early September in order to raise money to help them continue the vital work they've been doing - please support them!
(Because Roots is based in France, the money raised is going to them via ForRefugees)
