Story
The Northern Joe Cup is now in it third year and is a collaboration between sport and charity through which we run a Professional Squash Association Challenger tournament alongside various team and individual graded events, schools’ tasters, player clinics and exhibition matches. The aims of the event are twofold, to promote the amazing sport of squash and in doing so to raise awareness and funds for the Brain Tumour Charity.
The Northern Joe Cup is named after our son Joe who we lost to a brain tumour in 2020. Joe went to the GP 6 or 7 times with a variety of symptoms and was only diagnosed when we finally took him to A&E in desperation only to lose him just 2 weeks later. There is a real need to raise awareness of the symptoms of brain tumors and to raise funds for research into finding a cure.
The Brain Tumour Charity is the world's leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally. Committed to saving and improving lives, they are moving further, faster to help every single person affected by a brain tumour.
Their aim is to find new treatments, offer the highest level of support and driving urgent change and they are doing it right now. Because they understand that when you, or someone you love, is diagnosed with a brain tumour a cure really can't wait.
