Sponsor Niyah for her first conservation action (10k walk for WWF) 🐼🌿

The Big Winter Wander 2025 · 10 February 2025 to 23 February 2025 ·
She did it! Niyah smashed her 10k and then some 🥳🎉 Thank you to everyone who sponsored her; she raised a whopping £571 for WWF for their #bigwinterwander 🥾🌲❄️☀️
We started the 10k at the beginning of half term doing a walk at Rydal in the Lake District, and she managed 6.41km but was cut short because of rubbing shoes. The walk didn't strictly have to be done in one go, so I figured we'd just have to finish it off on a different day. We went out to finish it when visiting family in Wales with a walk at Newborough beach, but she ended up doing 11.59km in one go anyway! And still had energy to try and climb the sand dunes at the end 😂
The walk at Newborough was absolutely stunning and we were very lucky with the weather (another post with scenic photos to come) We walked all the way to the lighthouse on Llanddwyn Island which you can reach at low tide, and along the way saw the ruins of St Dwynwen chapel (built in the 1500s), five wild ponies, and my first oystercatchers! We all had a fantastic time, and it also marked the day that Niyah lost her first tooth 🦷🧚😊
Thank you again to everybody who sponsored Niyah to do this walk. She really wants to help animals and this will have a lasting impact on her as she grows up and continues her journey towards becoming a conservationist. I hope she has inspired others to care about our planet 🌍
Ever since Niyah read the book 'Saving Sorya' when she was 3 years old (a book about a little girl who wants to help endangered animals), she has wanted to become a conservationist. Now, at 4 years old, she is taking her first action to aid conservation work by walking 10k to raise money for WWF!
Her target is £250, and it would mean so much to Niyah to reach this goal! Please consider sponsoring her to help inspire her to work towards her dream, and help wildlife at the same time.
WWF is at the heart of global efforts to address the world’s most important environmental challenges: safeguarding the natural world, tackling climate change and enabling people to use only their fair share of natural resources. Together we can build a future where people and nature thrive.

Niyah has loved animals from a young age, but the book which has had the biggest impact on her has been Saving Sorya – Chang and the Sun Bear by Nguyen Thi Thu Trang (Author) and Jeet Zdung (Illustrator). I wanted to include a reference to it here, as it is a beautiful book and I hope it can inspire many other children to help wildlife in years to come.
Niyah on holiday learning about nesting sea turtles from conservationists at Together, Crete.
She found a millipede inside the hotel which we put back outside.
Together we rescued an injured herring gull and took it to a rehabilitation centre.
And of course, here she is taking after mummy learning about and looking for fungi.
