Story
This year I am modelling for the Kohinoor Charity Fashion Show in support of the charities: Future Hope (India), and Shaukat Khanum (Pakistan).
The fashion show is incredibly important to Durham’s diversity and inclusion because this is the first ever South Asian Fashion Show in Durham!
The aim of this event is to address two causes. Firstly, to showcase a variety of cultures, cherish our differences and to form a community. The second is to ensure that, through this event we are able to support a greater cause from the profits.
One of the charities that we are working with is called Future Hope. They are based in India to support children who do not have opportunities to develop their skills in sports. The charity coaches and encourages children to pursue their sporting careers or even have an opportunity to explore talent. They mainly coach Rugby and have been successful in being a positive influence in many people's lives.
Shaukat Khanum is Pakistan's first pioneering cancer research facility and treatment centre who believe in providing free cancer care for patients irrespective of whether patients can afford the treatment. They have been an established charity for the past 27 years and have several centres all over Pakistan that help in the awareness, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer in Pakistan.
We are very excited to host the first ever South Asian Charity Fashion Show in Durham - but the true happiness will be to see everyone getting involved in any way you can. We are looking forward to working with the two chosen charities and we welcome you to show your support too !
