Story
I am challenging myself to walk over 100 miles in 1 week to raise money for Myeloma UK, to help them continue the vital research and development of new treatments.
My wonderful husband, Martin, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma (bone marrow cancer) in September 2023 and is currently undergoing an intensive course of treatment. Together we have been through every emotion possible and we are only part way through the journey.
I have been feeling so helpless, as I just want to be able to fix Martin, but of course I don't have that magic wand! So, I wanted to do something positive to feel like I am doing some good and help Martin and others for the long term.
I also wanted to challenge myself to do something that's good for both my physical and mental health too. And what better than being outdoors in the fresh country air! We are very lucky where we live, so I will be walking around all the local fields and villages to really get to know my local area in depth!
I am hoping to encourage a few friends and family to join me at various points throughout the week - I will be taking on this challenge from Sunday 12th May to Saturday 18th May and will be posting updates along the way!
Your support and sponsorship would be really greatly appreciated and would mean the world to both of us.
