Story
In September 2022, I started running a Couch to 5k programme and have continued running 2-3 times per week. I have increased my distances and speed and whilst challenging myself to train for a half marathon, I thought why not try to raise some money for a cause personal to me.
I was diagnosed with Endometriosis in 2021, after an initial scare of Ovarian Cancer. Endo is a gynaecological condition which affects on average 1 in 7 women. It is incurable but it’s growth and symptoms can sometimes be decreased through diet and additional hormone treatments. So far I have had one surgery to remove endometriosis and the charity Endometriosis UK provided me with information at a time when I knew very little about the condition, or anyone else dealing with it. It is an invaluable resource for many women who feel completely lost, often with little information from medical professionals.
By donating you are supporting women like me, and their partners, family and friends, to have access to support and information during painful times. The charity also lobbies UK Government for more research to try to stop so many females suffering with this condition in the future.
