Story
Lebanon has the largest population of refugees in the world with over 2 million living in makeshift camps. Most struggle to make ends meet.
Having travelled all over Lebanon earlier this year to hand deliver the donations I fundraised, I saw how these camps are in some of the worst conditions we can imagine. Children with no shoes in the snow, families who haven’t had a decent meal in months, parents crying at how they are unable to feed and educate their children, women with a lack of basic hygiene necessities. The list goes on.
What broke my heart the most was that some of the adults in the camps, including the elderly are well-educated professionals who were thriving in their own countries before they were forced out of their homes or had their homes destroyed. They were working as Doctors, Nurses, Lawyers, driving their own cars, living in their own homes and now they aren’t even able to leave these camps to go and work in any city in Lebanon or even attempt to build anything higher than two bricks at the risk of being fined. Anything can be taken away from us at any time. And as for the children, this is the only life they’ve known and without our help it may be the only life they’ll ever know.
By the Will of God, I will be travelling to Lebanon again this Ramadan to the Palestinian and Syrian borders to hand deliver your donations during Ramadan. These donations will be given in food parcels, medical aid, hygiene kits, eid gifts for children and hot meals in a project called Feed the Fasting. Most of these families haven’t had a hot meal/meat in months maybe years. We are also working with widowed women to teach them new skills to be able to provide for their young children and also educating the children in these camps to be able to move on and build a better future for themselves.
How you can help:
£100 – be a lifeline to a family in crisis. Provide a vulnerable family with food, clean water, and medical aid. Your donation can transform the recovery of a family that has lost their home and livelihood.
£70 - keep a family-of-five fed and nourished for an entire month with a wholesome and nutritious food parcel.
£30 – Provide a family with 2 bread deliveries per week for two months
£20 - Provide an orphaned child with new clothing and basic necessities. This Ramadan £20 will also go towards Eid gifts for orphaned children.
ANY donation is appreciated, no amount is ever too small and your donations go a long way. Please donate whatever you can and help me reach my target of £5,500 this Ramadan. You can also share my page and help me reach as many people as possible so that together we can continue making a difference. These donations are literally saving lives. 100% of your donations go towards the cause and don’t forget to add gift aid when you donate. This cause is ZAKAT APPLICABLE too.
