Story
Hello, friends, family, and those of you who secretly want to see me get punched in the face (don’t worry, I know who you are),
I’ve got some big news to share, and it’s not just that I’ve completely lost my mind. On 16 November I’ll be stepping into the ring for a white-collar boxing match. Yes, you read that right. I’m willingly putting myself in a position where people will pay money to watch me get hit, all in the name of charity!
Now, before you start laughing too hard (or booking your front-row tickets), let me tell you why I’m doing this. I’m taking part in this boxing match to raise funds for East Cheshire Hospice, an incredible place that holds a very special spot in my heart.
In 2017, my best friend Sam Burt passed away at the hospice. Sam was the kind of friend who could light up a room with his smile, make you laugh until your sides hurt, and who, quite frankly, would be the first in line to see me take a punch. He fought bravely against illness, and when the time came, East Cheshire Hospice provided him with the care and comfort that both he and his family desperately needed.
For those who might not know, East Cheshire Hospice isn’t just a place where people go in their final days. It’s a sanctuary that offers care and support not only to those living with life-limiting illnesses but also to their families. They provide specialist care, pain management, emotional support, and even bereavement counseling. The hospice’s compassionate approach ensures that no one faces these difficult times alone, and they do it all with a warmth and dedication that’s truly remarkable.
So, why boxing? Well, I figured if I’m going to raise money, I might as well give people what they want – the chance to see me get my clock cleaned. I’m sure there are a few of you who’ve been dreaming about this moment for years! But in all seriousness, this is a way for me to honor Sam’s memory and give back to the place that was there for him when it mattered most.
Now, here’s where you come in. I need your support – not just moral support (though I’ll take all the positive vibes I can get) – but financial support too. Every penny raised will go directly to East Cheshire Hospice, helping them continue their amazing work. Whether you donate because you care about the cause, or because you really want to see me get knocked down, your contribution will make a huge difference.
So, please, dig deep and donate whatever you can. Let’s make sure the hospice can keep providing the care that made such a difference to Sam and so many others.
And hey, if nothing else, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that your money went to a good cause while I went to the mat!
Thank you so much for your support. Let’s make this fight one to remember – for all the right reasons.
See you in the ring (or maybe the A&E)
