Story

Rossholme School provides education for 425 children in the Kiambiu slum in Nairobi, led by its inspirational headteacher, Joyce Aruga. Last year, aunt and nephew team Kitty and Christian walked a 26 mile marathon on Dartmoor and raised over £1,700 towards helping the school to buy the land on which it stands. The marathon effort of raising the funds to allow the school to carry on its essential work continues, and so the Rough Ramble is expanding to invite others to join in this year’s walk.

Nigel, Ann-Marie and friends are joining the trek this year to help raise funds for this inspiring school. We plan to do a Half Marathon! Please support our efforts for this worthy cause.

The school in Nairobi’s Kiambiu slum provides free, sound education and pastoral care for some 90 children aged 2 to 9, who would otherwise receive no formal teaching. It is run by 30-year-old Kenyan Joyce Aruga, with the support of the UK-based charity. It is now aided by Tushinde, a fellow charity
