Nicole's fundraiser for UK Sepsis Trust

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2025 · 6 April 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
Just over a year ago, I became critically ill with sepsis and have been on the recovery path since, a time which is difficult to find the words to describe but one day I will. Whilst there are areas of my recovery which are ongoing, I am extremely grateful to now be in a position to run the London Landmarks half marathon on behalf of the UK Sepsis Trust.
The UK Sepsis Trust (UKST) is an incredible charity who have been an amazing support to me personally and countless other sepsis survivors and bereaved loved ones.
At the time of signing up for the half marathon, I was struggling with being able to walk and talk and I needed something to aim for, over and above my determination to have my health, independence and normality back. Sport and fitness has always been a big part of my life so it was important to me to push to regain the ability to be active once again.
It doesn't seem long ago that managing a couple of steps felt like a marathon in itself and so lining up in London on Sunday 6th April with the thousands of others participating will be a dream come true.
Sepsis is a life-threatening condition affecting 245,000 people in the UK each year and approximately 1 in 5 lose their life.
The UKST aims to end preventable deaths and improve outcomes for sepsis survivors, striving to raise public awareness and working to support anyone affected by this devastating condition.
Fundraising is at the heart of our fight against sepsis. With your support, we can make a difference!
