Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I’m fundraising for St Catherine’s Hospice in Crawley; a local charity with a big ambition – to make sure nobody faces death and loss alone. The hospice relies on donations to offer pioneering end of life care and support. Any donation you can give will mean a lot to me and make a direct difference to families facing terminal illness. Hospices nationwide have been struggling financially and are now pushed to make the tough decision of who they can help. Let’s enable them to help everyone they possibly can 🥰.
As many of you will know, in the Winter of 2016 my father was admitted to St Catherine’s hospice for end of life care. We practically took up residence! They believed he only had days to live but in true ‘Howard spirit’ he survived 11 weeks being lovingly cared for by the staff and volunteers at St Catherine’s.
I’ve always known I wanted to give something back. I have previously raised money for the hospice through raffles and with the support of many loving friends, family and colleagues I was able to run the London Marathon last year and raise a whopping £3,800. I am still fairly new to running but the moment I finished the marathon I knew I wanted to do it again. I loved the fundraising, the feeling of doing something useful and knowing I could help. Fast forward a couple of months and the lovely team at St Catherine’s hospice have offered me one of their sought after marathon spaces. I honestly could not be prouder than to run this for them. The care and love the staff show allows people to smile in their darkest days. They truly are angels in disguise. Let’s help them continue their essential work.
Any amount, no matter how small, that can be donated would be so gratefully received. I’ve got a huge target to reach and with the help of my buddies at East Grinstead Runners a huge training plan to complete.
Thanks for taking the time to read my story.
In loving memory of my Dad, Howard Dummer, a true legend.
