Story
My plan is to spend my 60th birthday, 10th March, cycling 60 miles in Spain - a mile for each year that I have been fortunate enough to have had a roof over my head.
To ensure that the cycle is a challenge, I will include plenty of climbs in the ride - there are a lot of hills (and mountains!) on the Costa Blanca! After all, this is where all the professional cyclists do their winter training,
I’m asking friends and family to consider donating to Turning Tides rather than buying me a gift, as I have no need for anything!
I have chosen to support Turning Tides as it is a cause that is close to my heart. I first became involved in supporting Turning Tides several years ago, cooking and helping in the winter night shelter.
I have subsequently been working as a Relief Project Worker for Turning Tides since early 2020. During this time I have worked in various settings, supporting clients in residential projects, those who were rough sleeping and in community inclusion with people who have recently moved into their own home.
Turning Tides is the largest provider of support for homeless men and women in West Sussex. Over the last 30 years the charity has continued to grow, developing a wide range of award-winning services to meet the individual needs of people accessing their support.
Turning Tides believes that everyone has the right to a home and supports people at every stage in their journey out of homelessness. The charity brings together compassionate individuals and organisations who work tirelessly to transform the lives of people in the local community.
